How to help…

In 2018 my daughter Shelby was one month away from her 23rd birthday and three months away from college graduation.

She went to the doctor for a headache and was diagnosed, that day, with a colloid cyst in the middle of her brain. She went into the hospital and 8 days later she died.

Shelby was full of life and that life was fueled by a passion for Jesus Christ and for people. Shelby loved everyone and never met a stranger. Above all, she loved God, wanted to serve Him, and wanted others to know Him.

If there is anything that could be learned from Shelby's life, it is that one person CAN make a difference. I wanted Shelby’s life to have meaning so my sister and I started a nonprofit in Shelby’s honor. The Shelby Center honors Shelby Raye Sloan Whitten’s servant heart.

Our Vision: To see young women living each day with passion and purpose, fully surrendered to Christ and free of bondage. To see families living together in healthy, functional relationships.

Our Mission: To love the young women in our care through their unique difficulties. To provide an environment that fosters emotional and spiritual healing.

What We Do: We are in the process of establishing a home for young girls in crisis, providing them with a safe haven where they can rebuild their lives. We will offer a nurturing environment, counseling, and educational resources to empower these resilient young souls. To bring this vision to life, we need your support. We are seeking funding, materials, and skilled labor to complete the construction of this home. Every contribution, whether big or small, will make a significant impact on the lives of these girls and contribute to the success of our project.

Why Support Us:

 • Aiding Vulnerable Youth: Your support will directly impact the lives of young girls facing challenging circumstances, offering them a chance for a brighter future.

• Creating a Safe Space: We aim to provide a secure and supportive environment where these girls can heal, grow, and build the skills they need to thrive.

• Education and Counseling: Your contributions will enable us to offer educational programs and counseling services, empowering these young individuals to break the cycle of crisis.

How You Can Help:

 • Financial Contributions: Your monetary support will go towards construction costs, educational materials, and essential resources for the girls. • Material Donations: We welcome donations of construction materials, furniture, and other items that will help create a comfortable and uplifting living space.

• Skilled Labor: If you or someone you know has skills in construction, plumbing, or other relevant trades, we would greatly appreciate your expertise.

How to Contribute: Contribute here towards our financial goal. For material donations or to offer your skilled labor, please contact us directly.

All donations are tax deductible!
